The Blueprint for 2026: Careerships Golden Week

Every December, I hold something called Golden Week. It’s the one week between Christmas and New Year’s where life slows down just enough to think clearly again. I protect it fiercely, not because it’s a holiday, but because it’s a strategic pause. It’s the week that stops me drifting into a new year and instead helps me design it.

Golden Week is more than reflection, it’s actionable insight. It’s your chance to see the full picture of your career and decide which moves actually matter.

This year, let’s make it interactive - a pop-quiz for your career. Grab a pen or open your notes

Golden Week Pop Quiz - How Did Your Year Really Go?

Answer honestly, no judgment. Just clarity.

1️⃣ Growth Check

  • Which skills or habits improved the most this year?
  • Which ones held you back?

💡 Hint: Look for areas where mastery quietly improved through effort and persistence.

2️⃣ Purpose Pulse

  • Which moments made you feel most energised or alive?
  • Which drained you?

💡 Hint: Purpose shows up in action, not just words. Identify what actually moved you forward.

3️⃣ Network Score

  • Who supported your growth, challenged your thinking, or opened doors?
  • Who did you add to your network this year?
  • Who might you want to reconnect with next year?

💡 Hint: Your network isn’t just contacts - it’s a multiplier for opportunity and accountability.

4️⃣ Ownership Audit

  • Where did you take full control of a project, decision, or relationship?
  • Where did you let circumstances steer you?

💡 Hint: Autonomy isn’t freedom from responsibility; it’s owning your choices.

5️⃣ Reflection Rating

  • Rate your year 1–10 for alignment with your goals.
  • Why that score?

💡 Hint: Patterns matter. Small daily choices often have the biggest impact.

Golden Week is your chance to pause and see the patterns you may have missed while moving fast all year.

Looking Forward - Who Do You Want to Become in 2026?

Now that you’ve reflected, it’s time to turn insight into intentional action. The strongest careers aren’t built on luck, they’re built on clarity, choice, and connection.

Identity

  • Which qualities do you want to embody next year? Confidence, calm, decisiveness, leadership?

Identity drives behaviour, behaviour drives results.

Work

  • What projects, problems, or conversations will stretch you the most?

Skills

  • Identify the 2–3 skills that will have the highest impact in 2026.
  • Focus on mastery that compounds over time.

People

  • Who do you want in your corner - mentors, collaborators, challengers?
  • Who do you need to meet to elevate your network?

Momentum

  • What small steps can you commit to in January to start the year strong?

Golden Week is your opportunity to step ahead of the noise and make choices that compound.

Autonomy, mastery, purpose, and network aren’t just words, they’re levers for acceleration.
