Reset. Refocus. Reconnect.

Q1 is done. 25% of the year is gone.

Now be honest, are you where you said you’d be?

Because this is where most people fall off. They confuse activity with progress. Meetings, emails, scrolling job boards - it feels productive, but it doesn’t move the needle.

Q2 is your chance to correct that.

Take yourself for a coffee and let’s reflect together...

Reset: Face Reality

Before you plan anything, review Q1 properly.

  • What were your goals?
  • What did you actually execute on?
  • Where did you hesitate?

No overthinking. No excuses.

If you didn’t apply consistently, didn’t network, didn’t put yourself out there - own it.

Refocus: Redefine Progress

Most people track the wrong things.

They focus on:

  • Job titles
  • Salary jumps
  • External validation

But real career progression is about positioning.

Ask yourself:

  • Do the right people know who I am?
  • Am I visible in the rooms that matter?
  • Am I building leverage, or just doing tasks?

Because the people who move fastest aren’t always the most talented.

They’re the most visible and connected.

That’s the shift for Q2.

Reconnect: Build Your Network With Intent

Let’s make this simple. If you’re not actively building relationships, you’re limiting your career. Opportunities don’t just come from applications. They come from conversations.

So raise your standard in Q2:

  • 5 new conversations every week
  • 2 follow-ups with existing contacts
  • 1 reach-out to someone ahead of you

And don’t make it transactional.

Be curious. Be sharp. Be someone people remember.

Because when opportunities show up, people don’t search databases - they think of names. Make sure yours is one of them.

Visibility is a Strategy

A lot of people are waiting to be “ready” before they speak up.

That’s a mistake.

You don’t get recognised, then become visible. You become visible, then get recognised.

In Q2:

  • Share what you’re working on
  • Talk about what you’re learning
  • Put your perspective out there

This isn’t about being loud. It’s about being present.

Silence doesn’t build careers. Consistency does.

Upgrade Your Environment

Take a good look at who you’re around. Are they pushing you forward or keeping you comfortable? Because comfort is expensive.

In Q2:

  • Spend more time with people who are ahead of you
  • Get into better conversations
  • Be in environments where growth is normal

Your standards will rise automatically. And when standards rise, performance follows.

Create Pressure

If nothing is forcing you to move, you won’t.

So build pressure intentionally:

  • Set clear goals for the quarter
  • Tell people what you’re aiming for, keep accountable
  • Put deadlines on your next move

Pressure creates urgency. Urgency creates action. Action creates results.

You still have 75% of the year left.

That’s more than enough time if you use it properly.

Reset your mindset. Refocus your strategy. Reconnect with the people who can change your trajectory.
